Study on Parameter Optimization of Diversion Wall in an Eight-Strand Tundish during Continuous Casting of Billet with High Casting Speed

With the increasing demand for high-efficient continuous casting, parameter optimization during high-speed casting is critical. To clarify changes in flow characteristics a multistrand tundish and principles diversion wall, numerical investigation of an eight-strand billet was carried out this paper. The simulation results were validated with physical 1:3 water model experiment. show that, same control device, average residence time maximum difference liquid steel different strands are significantly reduced higher speed. At speeds, effect hole diameter deflection angle wall on dead region proportion very minor, while that significant. For given tundish, to improve uniformity among multiple strands, should be optimized when speed increases. When 4.4 m/min, 80 mm, 74°, field parameters good, especially strands.
